A me sembra una pazzia, un'errore di giudizio, quasi un crimine. Fatto sta che d'ora in poi, boutiques e creazioni firmate da Hedi Slimane saranno rigorosamente Y free.
The old logo created in 1963 by the french illustrator Cassandre
It's official. Yves Saint Laurent is no longer Yves Saint Laurent, but Saint Laurent and that's all. This decision is in according to the rebranding politic of the maison, wanted by the Gucci group society and sealed by the approbation of the new artistic director Hedi Slimane. Rebranding is a way to say that the brand needs a restyle, it's too old. How can you define old a brand that has been an innovation's icon?
Yves Saint Laurent was the first to have thought that a tuxedo could be wonderful on a woman.
Back to the roots, they say. It's true, the first pret-à-porter collection in 1966 was called Saint Laurent Rive Gauche. But the whole world know the YSL logo as it's always been. They don't mind of this, they don't mind the scandal of some fans. The world changes, and the affairs faster than it. But, I wonder, can a brand that have written the history of fashion lose its Y? The name is the identity of a brand, is sign of identification. For me it is a madness, an error of judgment, almost a crime. But from now on boutiques and the creations designed by Hedi Slimane will be strictly Y free.
Love,
Marta
